English translation:
The crown of Torah
Here is buried the rabbi, the perfect sage, R. Shalom
Mordechai, son of Rabbi Zvi Aryeh Ha-Levi,
of blessed memory, 51 years of age
passed away on the holy Shabbat, 15 Marheshvan, [5]674 [=November 15, 1913]
Let the tear tremble in the eye,
Let it tremble where it is,
For what is the tear of human
To the deep waters of the soul?
Can the grace of the spirit be recounted in the grave
When its measure is longer than the earth
Of a sage who has gone to his world
And we have no replacement for him?
The heavens will tell his holy righteousness;
There, the righteous will find shelter;
He will enjoy the sweetness of the Most High
While the angels weep for us;
May his soul be bound in the bonds of life
